This was a fun and cute project.  The top image is Kaitlynn’s purse that I made using a pair of her jeans that were too small, a shirt that was too small and a few buttons. The tutorial below will show you how to make the basic bag, it’s a one seamer!

My changes :

1. Handles.. I cut the handles from the legs of the pants but  I didnt hem or anything. I sewed a stitch 1/2 inch from the edge and attached the handles. After sewing them onto the bag, I clipped the 1/2 seam allowance on the handles and allowed it to fray out after washing!

2. Ruffle : On Kaitlynn’s bag, I cut the bottom off of a button up shirt and used the entire piece for a ruffle along the bottom of her purse. After that I tore strips out of the remaining pieces of her shirt and made some little fabric flowers with button centers for decorations.

3. Stitches : On my bag, I embroidered some little edging here and there… I have plans of adding more and using it as a practice ground for stitches and such.
